About Me
My name is Steph and I am an artist based in Perth, Western Australia.
I repeatedly collect eccentric concepts, characters and scenes in my head. The ideas that make it to the canvas, are the ones that blend whimsy and humour in just the right way.
Every piece I create, comes from a place of play, and a desire to be amused. When I embrace my imagination, I connect with my inner child. Allowing me to feel a wholesome sense of joy, lacking the maturity I was taught to be essential.
Entering adulthood, I became hyper focused on being mature, so much so that I lost a large portion of my imagination. Being a child that relished in creativity, this was a dramatic change. It was difficult to come to terms with what direction I wanted for my art.
Since nurturing the parts of myself that lack maturity, instead of extinguishing them. I rediscovered my imagination in full force. Expressing it through worlds on canvas.
With this in mind. I intend my work to be joyous, light and humorous.
I hope that by painting these worlds, they continue to live on, not only in my mind, but yours too. So that they may bring joy to others.
